Number of persons born in an Asian country

This FACT indicates the number of persons born in Asian countries in each Australian capital. Only Asian countries that were given an extended community profile in the Australian Bureau of Statistics Census were included, namely: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China (excluding SARs and Taiwan), Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Republic of South Korea, Lebanon, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam. 

According to results of the 2016 ABS Census, the city with the highest number of people who were born in an Asian country is Sydney, at 981,349. The city with the lowest number is Hobart at 9,122.
