This FACT indicates the amount of money spent by universities on research grants as a proportion of the number of universities in each state in the year 2014. The types of research sorted into 4 fundamental categories; pure basic research, strategic based research, applied research and experimental research. These four categories make up the entire funding for research purposes. The universities of Sydney invested the largest proportion of their money into research at 316,085 dollars, closely followed by Victoria at 313,334 dollars. Darwin universities had the least amount spent on research at 68,954 dollars.
