Modern Australia has a reputation as a multicultural nation, its main cities are melting pots, ome to people of diverse backgrounds. It is no wonder then that there are many Australians who speak a language. This FACT indicates the total percentage of people in each city’s greater area that speak 1 or more languages other than English. Sydney and Melbourne have the highest percentile at 35.5 and 32.0 percent, respectively, whereas Hobart and Adelaide have the lowest percentile at 7.6 and 15.5 respectively.
