This FACT indicates the percentage of households whose mortgage repayments are less than 30 percent of the household income. The Australian average percentage of those spending less than 30 percent of household income on mortgage repayments is 92.8 percent - a fairly high number, which is good news. Data collected in the 2016 ABS Census shows that the city with the highest percentage was Canberra and Hobart, with 94.7 percent. The city with the lowest was Perth at 90.7 percent.
