This FACT indicates the percentage of people who were born outside Australia in each capital city. 30.2 percent of all Australian residents were born outside of Australia. As ascertained in the 2016 ABS Census, the city with the highest percentage of residents born outside the country is Sydney, at 42.9 percent. This is in keeping with the statistics that show Sydney also has the highest number of people with both parents outside Australia. Perth, who held the highest percentage in the 2011 Census, follows closely with 42.7 percent of people born outside Australia. The city with the lowest percentage is again Hobart, at 20.2 percent.
