This FACT indicates the percentage of persons aged 15 years and over who’s social marital status is listed as being in a registered marriage, in each capital city. On average, 47.7 percent of Australia's population are in a registered marriage. These statistics were taken from the 2016 ABS Census and excludes de facto status relationships and marriages.
The two cities that are tied with the highest percent of married persons is Perth and Sydney, with 48.5 percent. The least-wedded capital is Darwin, at 42.9 percent.
