On average, 47.7 percent of Australia's population are in a registered marriage. These statistics were taken from the 2016 ABS Census and excludes de facto status relationships and marriages.
The two cities that are tied with the highest percent of married persons is Perth and Sydney, with 48.5 percent. The least-wedded capital is Darwin, at 42.9 percent.
