Australia is one of the world's most efficient producers of cattle and the world's second largest exporter of beef, shipping large quantities of beef especially to neighbouring countries in the South Pacific and in Asia.

The state/territory with the highest number of cattle used for meat is the Australian Capital Territory, with 100 percent. The Northern Territory closely follows with 99.9 percent. The state with the lowest is Victoria with 52.21 percent.
