This FACT indicates the total greenhouse gas (carbon dioxide) emissions in millions of tonnes of each Australian state in 2016. The state and territory breakdown of total emissions includes: emissions from daily commercial, industry, residential, land use, land use change and forestry (LULUCF). The state with the highest emissions is Queensland, at 151.8 million tonnes, followed closely by New SOuth Wales, at 131.6 million tonnes. Tasmania, emitted the least amount of greenhouse gas, at 0.0 million tonnes. This represents a process of net sequestration, whereby greenhouse gasses are stored in the soil.
