Melbourne

Melbourne, the capital of Victoria, has many nicknames: the 'place to be', the 'Athens of the South' (on account of its large greek population), and Australia's 'cultural capital', to name a few. It is unofficially cited as Australia's most 'European' city, with its numerous lane-ways and being home to a myriad of reputed bars, cafes and restaurants. Melbourne also has a reputation of fickle weather, with visitors and residents often complaining of experiencing four seasons in one day. There's never a reason to walk for too long, though: Melbourne has the third most extensive tram network in the world; a fact that many Melburnians are proud of.
