A little bit about Hobart

Hobart, and Tasmania as a whole, is renowned for its spectacular natural landscape, attracting thousands of eco-tourists each year. The island-state's capital is typically cooler than the rest of Australia: a welcome fact for hikers, and a perfect climate for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grape varieties, which offer some local drinking variation to the city's bars serving locally distilled spirits. Hobart has a large sailing fraternity, and is the finishing point of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race. Hobart's newly acquired gallery - the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA), donated to the city by Tasmanian David Walsh - is attracting international attention, and is being compared to some of the most highly reputed galleries in the world.
