This FACT indicates the percentage of people who were born outside Australia in each capital city. 30.2 percent of all Australian residents were born outside of Australia. As ascertained in the 2011 ABS Census, the city with the highest percentage of residents born outside the country is Perth, at 40.4 percent. This is in keeping with the statistics that show Perth also has the highest number of people with both parents outside Australia. Sydney follows closely with 40.1 percent of people born outside Australia. The city with the lowest percentage is again Hobart, at 17 .9 percent.
