The city with the highest percentage of first generation Australians is unsurprisingly Sydney, at 49.4 percent; which is in keeping with the percentage of people with non-Australian ancestry. The city with the lowest is again Hobart, at 17.2 percent. The Australian average is 34.3 percent, or just over one third of Australia's population.
