This FACT indicates the percentage of persons aged 15 years and over who are married, in each capital city. On average, 49.2 percent of Australia's population are in a registered marriage. These statistics were taken from the 2011 ABS Census and excludes de facto status relationships.
The city with the highest percent of married persons is Hobart, with 52 percent, closely followed by Adelaide, at 51 percent. The least-wedded capital is Darwin, at 42.5 percent.
