Australians are amongst the biggest beer drinkers in the world. Beer - and breweries - comprise a symbolic part of Australian social culture. In recent years, the microbrewery trend has gained traction, with an increase in the number of small-scale beer producers brewing boutique beers and ciders.

This FACT indicates the total number of microbreweries in each state and territory from the year 2012. The state with the higest number of microbrewerys is Melbourne at 31 brewerys. Conversely, The Northern Territory is at the opposite end with no local brewerys. The data were collected in 2012 from Wikipedia.
