This FACT indicates the total greenhouse gas (carbon dioxide) emissions in millions of tonnes of each Australian state between 2010-2011. The state and territory breakdown of total emissions includes: emissions from daily commercial, industry, residential, land use, land use change and forestry (LULUCF).     The state with the highest emissions is New South Wales, at 159.0 million tonnes, followed closely by Queensland, at 155.5 million tonnes. The Australian Capital Territory, which also has the smallest area, emitted the least amount of greenhouse gas, at 1.2 million tonnes.
