This FACT indicates the percentage of children under the age of 15 who currently live in a single parent household, either through divorce or parent death, in each Australian capital city. Family composition data is collected through the ABS annual survey, Labour Force Status and Other Characteristics of Families. The survey results represent households across Australia except those in discrete Indigenous communities. The city with the lowest percentage of children under 15 in a single parent household is Canberra, with 13.2 percent. The city with the highest percentage is Hobart with 24.5 percent.
